Crunchy Wheat and Rye

This is a great multi-grain bread with a touch of honey and brown sugar. Quick and easy to prepare in a bread machine, it’s our family favorite!

Original recipe makes 1 – 1.5 pound loaf

Ingredients

1 1/3 cups water
2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup bread flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup rye flour
1 1/2 tablespoons dry milk powder
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
1/2 cup wheat and barley nugget cereal (e.g. Grape-Nuts™)

Directions

  1. Place the ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select whole wheat setting and press Start.
