Honey Macadamia Oat Bread

This hearty, flavorful bread will make you wonder why your bread maker was left untouched on the shelf for so long. Try sprucing it up by adding some of your favorite ingredients, such as flax seed, sesame seeds, fennel seeds, anise seeds, etc.

Original recipe makes 1 2-pound loaf

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups warm water (115 degrees F/46 degrees C)
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups oat flour
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons vital wheat gluten flour
4 ounces macadamia nuts, ground
2 tablespoons fast-rising yeast

Directions

  1. Combine water, olive oil, honey, and salt in a bread machine. Mix the oat flour, all-purpose flour, gluten flour, and ground macadamia nuts in a large bowl until well blended. Sprinkle the flour mixture on top of the water mixture in the bread machine, making sure to cover the water. Make two indentations in the flour mixture, and spoon 1 tablespoon of yeast into each indentation.
  2. Select the Express Bake setting on the bread machine for a 2-pound loaf of bread; press start.
