Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies III

Almond extract gives these a unique flavor.

Original recipe makes 5 dozen

Ingredients

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup water
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups rolled oats

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in order given. Refrigerate dough for several hours or overnight to get a thick consistency.
  2. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) 12-14 minutes. Let stand 1 minute before removing from baking sheet.
