Peanut Butter Bars III

My grandkids love these. Very easy to make.

Original recipe makes 2 dozen

Ingredients

1 cup shortening
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk

Directions

  1. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add the beaten egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla; stir in flour and salt. Mix well. Spread in the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch buttered pan.
  2. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 15 minutes. Let cool.
  3. To Make Frosting: Mix together confectioners’ sugar, peanut butter, butter or margarine, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add just enough milk for the proper consistency. Frost cooled bars.
