This bread was suggested at a class I gave on making breads using whole grains. A woman in the class wanted to make some bread for her husband who was allergic to wheat. She called me the next day to report it was very good. I was so happy for them, because her husband hadn’t eaten bread in such a long time, and was so thankful.

Cracked Wheat Oat Bread
This is my family’s favorite bread. Cracked wheat and oatmeal make it a delicious and hearty loaf that’s great for any kind of sandwich.
Erin’s Canadian Fried Dough
This recipe is passed down from my Nana who was famous for her doughnuts. This is one she would make us on a cold winters day after skating all day on the outdoor rink. It is a popular treat when skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Canada.
Oat Wheat Bread for Bread Maker
If you like the flavor of oats, you will enjoy this. Oat flour is just oatmeal ground into flour. As a result the bread can be a little more chewy than others. You can’t use a lot of oat flour in a bread if you are using yeast. Generally no more than 1/3 of the wheat flour can be substituted with oat flour.
Welsh Bread
A slightly sweet bread with a great flavor combination of raisins and caraway seeds.
Yogurt Cornbread
Cornmeal and whole kernel corn color this loaf a golden color. Yogurt lends it a delightfully sour tang.
Mustard Wheat Rye Sandwich Bread
This is a great sandwich bread. Makes a great grilled cheese or Rueben sandwich! I like to form this bread in a round circle, and bake free form in the la cloche!

Winnipeg Rye Bread
Famous Winnipeg style rye bread which uses cracked rye and white flour instead of rye flour. This makes a light colored, richly flavored bread. Adapted for the bread machine.
Caraway Rye Bread (for the bread machine)
A nice-flavored light rye loaf with lots of caraway seeds. Sweetened with both brown sugar and molasses. Allow to cool before slicing.
Cranberry Oat Bread
This is a wonderful, moist bread, made in a bread machine. This is a one-and-a-half pound bread recipe. Instead of a cup, I throw in a whole bag of cranberries.
Honey Brown Rolls or Loaves
This bread is just like the bread served at several famous casual dining chains. It’s very moist, sweet and just hard to stop eating! Great with soup.
Pumpkin and Sunflower Seed Bread
Around Halloween, our babysitter would take the pumpkin seeds from the carved pumpkins, roast them a few minutes in the oven, and then make this bread. You can also use store brought seeds if you prefer.
Spent Grain Wheat Bread
This bread is an excellent way to use some of the grain that is left over when brewing beer. Just make sure that you aren’t using spent grain that has hops mixed in with it!
