Ron’s Fruit Bread

This bread is a favourite with our family, either fresh or toasted.

Original recipe makes 2 pound loaf

Ingredients

1 cup water
1 egg, beaten
2 tablespoons dry milk powder
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup bread flour
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup candied mixed fruit peel

Directions

  1. Place ingredients in order suggested by your manufacturer.
  2. Select sweet bread setting. Add the raisins and mixed peel when the machine beeps, or 5 minutes before kneading is complete.
