Steak and Ale Type Bread

A hearty brown bread that’s great with soups and stews.

Original recipe makes 1 – 1 1/2 pound loaf

Ingredients

1 cup water
1/4 cup molasses
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 cups bread flour
1 1/4 cups rye flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Directions

  1. Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select cycle; press Start.
