The Greatest Banana Bread

This simple quick bread contains buttermilk and nuts. People love it and often ask for the recipe.

Original recipe makes 1 – 8×4 inch loaf pan

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 ripe bananas, mashed
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
5 tablespoons buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8×4 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a separate bowl mash bananas to equal 1 cup and add oil, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla extract. Beat together and pour this mixture into the dry ingredients. Add nuts and stir just until combined. Pour batter into 8×4 inch loaf pan.
  3. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
