This cake is moist and delicious. I am from Washington state and this is my Mother’s recipe. Great topped with caramel frosting!
Original recipe makes 1 9×13 inch pan
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups applesauce
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
2 cups raisins

Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan. Mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the applesauce. Fold in the walnuts and raisins. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
