Cherry Cobbler

This is my family’s favorite dessert, whether we are at home or camping! This is especially yummy when served warm with vanilla ice cream. White cake mix works as well as yellow.

Original recipe makes 12 servings

Ingredients

3 3/4 cups cherry pie filling
1 package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, cut in small pieces

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line the inside of a Dutch oven with aluminum foil.
  2. Spread cherry pie filling in an even layer into the bottom of the Dutch oven. Sprinkle cake mix over the pie filling; top with a layer of brown sugar. Dot the top with butter pieces. Put lid on the Dutch oven.
  3. Bake in preheated oven until the top is golden brown, 45 to 90 minutes.
