A combination of shortbread and macaroons, but not quite.
Original recipe makes 2 dozen
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter
2 teaspoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons strawberry jam
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (170 degrees C).
- To make Crust: Mix together first three ingredients and pack into the bottom of an 8 x 8 inch pan. Dot with strawberry jam.
- To make Topping: Beat together the rest of the ingredients and pour over the crust.
- Bake till firm for 30-35 minutes.
