Apple Walnut Bread

          

There are plenty of apples and nuts in this yummy fruit bread. It’s great almost any time of the day.

Original recipe makes 2 – 9×5 inch loaves

Ingredients

3/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup applesauce
3 eggs
1 3/4 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups peeled, cored and cubed apples
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Lightly grease two 9×5 inch loaf pans.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together oil, applesauce, eggs, sugar and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, sift together flour cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Gradually stir flour mixture into wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Fold in apples and walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 70 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center of a loaf comes out clean.
