Cotton Candy Cupcakes

Homemade cupcakes topped with cotton candy frosting bring the fun of a county fair right into your kitchen.

Original recipe makes 24 cupcakes

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) package Duncan Hines® Golden Yellow Cake Mix
3 large eggs
1 1/3 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 (16 ounce) can Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter
1 (3 gram) packet Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Cotton Candy Flavour Mix
Coloured sugar
Cotton candy

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place cupcake liners in muffin pans.
  2. Prepare cake batter as directed on package.
  3. Pour batter into prepared cupcake liners, filling them no more than two-thirds full.
  4. Bake 18 minutes or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean.
  5. Let cupcakes cool for 5 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely.
  6. Pour packet of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Cotton Candy Flavour Mix into can of Duncan Hines® Frosting Creations™ Frosting Starter. Stir until evenly blended.
  7. Frost cupcakes with the Cotton Candy frosting you just created and sprinkle with coloured sugar.
  8. Garnish with pieces of cotton candy.
