Beautiful, delicious, and easy; your friends will be impressed. I make this around the holidays, it makes awesome french toast, if there is any left over.
Yeast Bread
S.C.A. Trail Bread
This recipe was created in the Unitas mountain range by a Student Conservation Association trail crew. The beauty of this bread is it’s versatility. If you don’t have enough or any of an ingredient you can usually go without or substitute for it. So go ahead, add milk, eggs, oats, fruits or nuts. You can also try different flours and sweeteners.

Asian Water Roux White Bread
Secret to homemade bread that will stay soft for days! if you enjoy the silky, cotton-soft but expensive loaves from Chinese bakeries, then you will love these! My kids can’t rave enough about them. It might be more work than the usual white bread, but trust me, this is so worth it! Water roux works best refrigerated overnight; however, if you don’t want to wait, make sure it’s room temperature when you add it to the dough! The dough is quite moist to work with. It is easier to do the kneading in a mixer.
Essence of Bread
This is about as simple as a bread recipe can be. It’s great tasting, crusty, yeasty, coarse-textured, satisfying bread. I’m a guy, and I can make this perfect every time. This bread is the exact of opposite of all the other soft, fine-textured, preservative laden, over-priced supermarket breads. It’s easiest if you use a stand-type mixer with bread hooks. If you don’t have one, buy one. It’ll be the most-used appliance in your kitchen, next to the toaster.
Versatile Bread
This is a wonderfully flavored and versatile bread. You can use it to make focaccia loaves, cinnamon rolls, hamburger buns, or dinner rolls. This recipe makes bread baking a snap!
Buttermilk-Herb Bread
Our family’s favorite! We got this from a neighbor and have never seen it anywhere else and we’ve made it for over 20 years. Wonderful right out of the oven, slathered with butter. It has the subtle flavors of dill and buttermilk with a tender crumb.
How to Make French Baguettes
I always thought you can’t make real French baguettes at home, but once I tried it I realized I was wrong. Again. You’re going to be fairly shocked when you realize just how simple this is. The only way to make bread this any more French is to put some butter on it!
Dan’s Old Fashioned White Bread
This is a rich, old-fashioned white bread I’ve improved on from my grandmother. It is a must to make several batches because this bread just disappears around people.
