I have been working with various stuffing for phyllo. This is by far the best I have come up with.
Pastries
Cheese Filled Triangles
The only tricky part of this recipe is working with phyllo, and once you get the hang of it, it’s fun. Sometimes you get a bad batch of phyllo that rips and tears easily, so I always buy an extra just in case. I have frozen these before baking. Just add a few minutes to cooking time when you cook them in a frozen state. I have also doubled this recipe for large parties.
Spinach Pinwheels
Here’s a great looking and great tasting appetizer. It’s easy, too! You can substitute any flavor of cheese spread for garlic herb.
Cheese Crispies
These are addictive! They can be made to anyone’s taste by adjusting the amount of heat.
Spinach and Mushroom Pinwheels
For a head start on these appetizers, freeze unbaked slices for up to 3 months.
Buffalo Wontons
Shredded chicken with buffalo sauce and cream cheese, wrapped up in a warm, crunchy wonton. These are easy and delicious. The perfect appetizer for a party or at home! I like to serve them with blue cheese or ranch dressing.
Dirty Diapers
A great appetizer that tastes so much like mini-slider cheeseburgers. These are great for informal get-togethers or a football party!
Baked Cream Cheese Appetizer
Easy, yummy appetizer. Great for unexpected guests during the holidays. Serve with crackers and assorted apple slices.
Zucchini Cheese Garlic Appetizer
Wonderful little biscuits filled with cooked zucchini and cheese. Garlic and herbs round out the flavor nicely.
Jalapeno Popper Cups
Didn’t have enough Jalapenos to make full out poppers, but improvised for a creamy and spicy appetizer. You’ll want to eat them right away, but they will be molten hot so be careful!!
Tiny Chicken Turnovers
These turnovers make great appetizers and they’re worth the extra effort because they taste so good! For do-ahead appetizers, they can be baked, frozen and reheated at 375degrees F (190 degrees C) for 5-7 minutes.
Authentic Chinese Egg Rolls (from a Chinese person)
My mom is the best cook ever and I am a picky eater. If I like this, then you will. This is very authentic because my family is Chinese and I am too. This recipe is at least 300 years old in the Ling family.
Beef Samosas
Beef and potatoes are the main ingredients folded inside these wonderful deep fried samosas. Chicken livers may be substituted for beef, if you choose. My friend from Bangladesh gave me this savory, spicy recipe. You just can’t buy better in the shops.
Baked Brie in Puff Pastry
This wonderful, light puff pastry is filled with melted Brie cheese. Serve with crackers on the side.
Feta Cheese Foldovers
Golden puffed pastries are filled with a feta cheese mixture. These can be made ahead, and popped into the oven after your guests arrive.
